Born in southern Indiana, Reynolds’ interest in drawing and painting began at an early age. He later attended Ball State University College of Architecture and Planning in Muncie, Indiana, graduating with a degree in architecture in 1973.

Reynolds pursued his art studies with noted American Impressionist C.W. Mundy, and studied and taught at the Indianapolis Art Center. He also traveled to New York City, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona to study with nationally known painters such as Kevin McPherson, Jacob Collins, Matt Smith, Greg Kreutz, Richard Whitney and Brian Stewart.

Reynolds established his reputation as a portrait painter. He then transferred his keen observation skills and sensitivity to the subject of farm animals. Farm animals are common to the midwestern scene, and Reynolds describes them firsthand using a painterly approach. He captures more than a likeness; he uses paint to express a “personality” as well.

Reynolds explains, “As an artist, I impressionistically interpret light; with passion and sensitivity, I interpret the beauty of the light through my eyes. I depict figures, animals, still lifes, and the landscapes of nature.” Much of Reynolds’ study of nature involves travel and photography. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and his work is included in collections throughout the United States.
