Elon Brasil is a self-taught plastic artist, who was born on the beach of Jurujuba, Niteroi, right next to the city of Rio de Janeiro. At the age of six, he started to sketch with his first crayons. He moved to Sao Paulo in 1968 when he was 12 years old and that's when he won his first award, a gold medal at the "II Pinarte" of Pinheiros. In 1970, along with the artists Aldemir, Clovis Graciano and Carlos Sciliar, Elon illustrated the book of poetry "Cantando os gols" by Tito Battine.

Elon’s figurative work is composed of the images of the land, Indians, Blacks, and Cablocos (the Brazilian mixed race between white and Indian) surrounded by outstanding colors and textures. His theme aims to emphasize and preserve the Brazilian culture and its roots. Elon’s mother was black, a descendant of Brazilian Indians, and his father (the artist, Milton Brasil) came from Italian and Portuguese immigrants. Elon uses his history and origins as inspiration for his work. He became known internationally by living in Switzerland for six months, where he had several opportunities of exhibiting his work and still paint several orders for European collectors.
